   BEFORE YOU APPLY

   Gather your documents

   Have everything ready before starting the online application.

   • Your Statement of Attainment showing the security units you completed.
   • Your current First Aid certificate, such as HLTAID011.
   • Four current proof of identity documents (see the identity guide below).
   • Evidence of Australian work rights if you were born overseas.
   • The Tasmanian licence number of the manager or agent you will work for.
   • Digital copies of supporting documents, ready to upload as PDF, JPEG, JPG or text files.

   Which four identity documents do I need?

   Choose one commencement of identity document, one primary use in community document and two secondary use in community documents. Together, they must show your full name, date of birth and photograph.

   CBOS · ONLINE APPLICATION

   Apply for your employee licence

   Read the CBOS requirements, complete the employee licence application, select the activities your training qualifies you for and upload your documents. Allow about 15 minutes for the online form.

   Pay by card online or at a Service Tasmania centre. Save and print your application or payment receipt for your visits.

   Which licence activities should I choose?

   Select only activities supported by your completed training. These may include crowd control or security guarding general. Monitoring room operator, bodyguard, commercial employee and inquiry agent activities have their own requirements; completing CPP20218 does not automatically qualify you for all activities.

   SERVICE TASMANIA · IN PERSON

   Verify your identity and have your photo taken

   After applying online, visit a Service Tasmania centre with your printed application or payment receipt and identity documents. Bring originals; check Service Tasmania’s rules if using certified copies.

   Have your licence photograph taken and give consent for CBOS to obtain a National Police Record Check. Your application cannot be fully processed until the required checks are complete.

4. 04

   TASMANIA POLICE · IN PERSON

   Arrange your fingerprints

   First-time applicants must pay for and have their fingerprints checked. This is a separate visit from Service Tasmania. Contact the police station before attending to confirm fingerprinting arrangements.

   Take your printed payment receipt and photo identification.

   Applying from interstate? CBOS advises attending police in the state or territory where you live. Your original fingerprints are then posted to CBOS. Check the CBOS instructions before arranging your visit.
